Thun and Dinamo Zagreb begin their European campaigns at Stockhorn Arena on Tuesday, with the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round marking the opening hurdle. Both sides will be looking to seize the initiative ahead of next week's second-leg clash in Zagreb.

The 2025-26 campaign was one for the history books for Thun as they claimed the Swiss Super League title for the first time in their 128-year history. The achievement was made even more remarkable by the fact that it came in their first season back in the top flight after five years in the second tier.

Thun ended the regular season 14 points clear at the top of the table, meaning their poor Championship Round showing, in which they lost four of five matches, did nothing to derail their title-winning campaign.

The Swiss champions are now back on the continental stage for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign and will be looking to make a real statement in their first game back.

After a rare trophyless campaign in 2024-25, Dinamo Zagreb quickly returned to their best last season, cruising to the Prva HNL title by a whopping 18-point margin on their way to another domestic double.

Dinamo have looked sharp during the off-season, with last week's goalless draw against Cherkasy extending their pre-season record to three wins and a draw. However, they will recognise that a significant step up will be required when they return to competitive action on Tuesday.

Modri last featured at this stage of the UCL qualifiers three years ago, thrashing Kazakhstani side Astana 6-0 on aggregate.

Home advantage means Thun head into this one with every chance of securing a positive result.

However, their woeful Championship Round showing last season exposed defensive frailties that could prove costly against a much stronger Dinamo Zagreb side on Tuesday.
