The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras to technically strengthen the State’s power infrastructure, enhance renewable energy integration, and improve the reliability and quality of electricity services.
Minister for Energy Resources C.T.R. Nirmalkumar exchanged the MoU with Manu Santhanam, Dean of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research, IIT Madras, in the presence of TNPDCL Chairman and Managing Director J. Radhakrishnan and IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti, at a function held at the TNPDCL headquarters here on Thursday.
Mr. Nirmalkumar, after signing the agreement, said it would help upgrade the State’s power sector to global standards and pave the way for long-term collaboration with scientists of the premier institute. The MoU aims at introducing innovative technologies across power generation, transmission, distribution, and green energy sectors.
The programme will help set up a research and development centre and implement artificial intelligence, along with machine learning and data analytics, for data-driven decision-making processes.
