Front Row Motorsports driver Todd Gilliland is officially one race away from a life-changing payday. By matching his season-best performance with an eighth-place finish in Sunday night’s Window World 450 at North Wilkesboro Speedway, Gilliland pulled off a massive bracket upset.

The driver of the No. 34 Ford Mustang defeated 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott’s tournament hopes, punching his ticket to the championship round of NASCAR’s high-stakes In-Season Challenge. After this, only one driver stands between Gilliland and a $1 million prize at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Ryan Blaney.

Reflecting on the same, Gilliland said (via NBC Sports):

Previously, Todd Gilliland has managed two sixth-place finishes at the Brickyard 400 race. Moreover, finishing one spot better than Blaney last year.

Front Row Motorsports is officially living out a true motorsports fairy tale. Just a month ago, the idea of the No. 34 team fighting for a seven-figure bonus seemed like a long shot. But following a clinical performance at North Wilkesboro Speedway that saw him eliminate fan favorite Chase Elliott, Todd Gilliland is heading to the Brickyard with a massive wave of momentum.

In a post-race conversation, he said:

To complete the ultimate Cinderella story and secure the $1 million prize, Gilliland will have to outperform Ryan Blaney on one of the most prestigious rectangular ovals in the world.

NASCAR will return to action for the Brickyard 400 race on Sunday, July 26 at 2 p.m. ET.
