Kyle Shanahan is making news headlines for frightening reasons, and the details surrounding his ordeal have gotten more interesting.
On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers announced that their head coach had been involved in a two-vehicle collision 11 days ago. He suffered non-fatal injuries, but is expected to have a limited role in the team's preseason camp, with his coordinators and associate coach Chris Foerster leading the way during his recovery.
NBC's Pro Football Talk Live vertical has since reported that the 49ers wanted the accident not to be reported on until the beginning of training camp, but it was not just the media that it was absent from. Podcaster Tony Farmer also learned that the incident did not appear in the Palo Alto Police Department's daily log.

With Kyle Shanahan expected to miss time recovering from his injuries, the 49ers will, as mentioned before, turn to Chris Foerster, who will manage practices in cooperation with coordinators Klay Kubiak, Raheem Morris and Brant Boyer.
During an emergency media session on Saturday, general manager John Lynch cited Foerster's familiarity with the organization as a primary factor in his appointment:
He also made it clear that even though Foerster would be the de facto leader, practices would be "very much a collective effort" involving the rest of the coaching staff:
The 49ers continue their practices on Monday. After that is a three-day break before practice resumes on July 31.
