The Bengaluru Traffic Police have launched a city-wide special enforcement drive against tipper lorries and other vehicles illegally dumping construction and demolition waste on roads and at unauthorised locations, as part of an effort to ensure safer and smoother traffic movement across the city.
According to the traffic police, the indiscriminate dumping of construction debris has been obstructing the free flow of traffic, posing serious road safety hazards, causing inconvenience to commuters, and affecting urban cleanliness.
As part of the special drive, the police have issued 212 notices to the drivers of vehicles involved in the improper disposal of construction waste. The notices warn drivers against dumping debris at unauthorised locations and direct them to strictly adhere to waste disposal regulations.
In addition to enforcement, the campaign also focuses on creating awareness among vehicle operators. Drivers have been educated about their responsibility to transport and dispose of construction and demolition waste only at authorised disposal facilities and in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police said the enforcement drive was conducted across the city and reiterated that strict action would continue against violators to prevent illegal dumping and ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and safer roads.
