The Madukkarai police on Tuesday arrested two persons for posting alleged derogatory remarks about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Facebook.
V. Vishnuprabhu (36) and T. Manojkumar (37), residents of Kurumbapalayam near Madukkarai, were arrested based on a complaint lodged by Balaji, a local functionary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
According to the police, the duo posted derogatory remarks about the Chief Minister on Facebook, following a dispute they had with TVK supporters over placing of a banner for the inauguration of a ration shop at Kurumbapalayam.
The police arrested Vishnuprabhu and Manojkumar from Tiruchi and produced them before a court in Madukkarai. They were remanded in judicial custody.
