The Gurugram police have arrested two persons accused of murdering a 57-year-old watchman following an altercation. He had been missing, and his body was found on the Farrukhnagar-Wazirpur road on July 20.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Jaipal (57), a resident of Mohammadpur village in Gurugram. He had gone to perform his duty as a watchman in the village on July 19, but did not return home the following morning. After his son failed to find him at his place of work, he reached out to police personnel, and a case was registered at the Farrukhnagar police station in this regard.

After his body was found, sections related to murder were added to the case based on the post-mortem examination.

The Crime Branch (Farrukhnagar) arrested two persons on Friday from underneath the KMP flyover on the Farrukhnagar-Wazirpur road.

The accused were identified as Kamal of Mohammadpur village in Gurugram, and Harishankar of Abutaliwpur village in Hathras district (Uttar Pradesh).

“During police interrogation, it was revealed that Kamal works as a driver. On the night of July 19, while reversing a vehicle, he accidentally hit Jaipal, leading to an argument between them. Kamal then struck Jaipal with a stick and told him not to disclose the incident to anyone.

“Later, both of them went to a liquor shop to consume alcohol, but the shop was closed. Another argument broke out between them, during which Kamal allegedly strangled Jaipal to death using a ‘gamcha’ (cotton towel). After the murder, Kamal called co-accused Harishankar and together they disposed of the body by throwing it along the Farrukhnagar-Wazirpur road. We are questioning the accused,” a senior police officer said.
