Two workers — Krishnappa Badiger (48) and Syed Kempavadi (32) — died when a house they were repairing, collapsed in Kottalagi village of Athani taluk of Belagavi district on Sunday (July 12, 2026).
Lakshmibai Nandagonda’s house was leaking due to continuous rains for the past week. She had called the workers for repairs. Parts of the house, including the roof and a wall, suddenly collapsed, trapping the workers under the soil.
Local residents pulled them out and admitted both of them to a hospital in Jart in Maharashtra. However, both of them died a few hours later. A case has been registered at Aigali police station.
