District officials in multiple western U.P. districts on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) inspected security arrangements for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra. The Uttar Pradesh government has said it has pushed for zero incident, zero accident during the yatra.
The officials stressed the need for close coordination with neighbouring districts. “The administration and the police have almost completed their preparations for the Kanwar Yatra during the holy month of Shravan. Physical inspections have been carried out along the Bareilly route, Kachhla Ghat, and all other designated routes...” said Abhishek Kumar Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Budaun.
Similarly, physical inspections were carried out by police in Meerut, Saharanpur, Bijnor and Bareilly districts. Uttar Pradesh administration has established an Integrated Kanwar Control Room located at Police Lines, Meerut to ensure security, traffic management, and prompt and effective coordination between various departments along the Kanwar routes. The Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, held a review meeting as well.

Earlier, U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued clear instructions that no negligence in security, cleanliness, or traffic management would be tolerated during the yatra. He directed officials to take immediate and strict action against anti-social elements spreading rumours on social media and to promptly counter misleading information.
“All concerned departments should complete their preparations before the commencement of the Kanwar Yatra. Adequate police personnel should be deployed along the entire yatra route. CCTV cameras should be installed at key locations, and continuous surveillance should be carried out through drones. Continuous coordination should be maintained during the Kanwar Yatra with officials of neighbouring states, including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, so that any situation can be handled effectively,” said the U.P. CM.
