US President Donald Trump recently shared his thoughts on baseball during a recent public appearance in Cobb County. He highly praised the Atlanta Braves while taking a subtle jab at the New York Mets.

Trump highlighted how the Mets have continued to face difficulties despite their expensive payroll. He praised Braves CEO Mike Plant for maintaining the organization’s success over the years despite losing key players like Freddie Freeman, who signed a 6-year $162M deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

President Donald Trump further praised Mike Plant for always “staying at the top” and avoiding long rebuilding phases like other teams. “This guy never rebuilds,” Trump said of Plant.

During the event, Donald Trump invited Atlanta Braves CEO Mike Plant and team legend Brian Snitker to join him on stage, saying “they deserve credit” for building a consistently competitive team. Snitker thanked Trump and expressed how strong the connection is between the Braves and their fanbase.

He also noted that they presented Trump with one of the team’s 4th of July 250th anniversary jerseys, adding that the Braves would return with another World Championship jersey in the future, in about a year. Plant also shared a lighthearted message.

He told Trump that after he finishes “throwing four-seam fastballs for the United States of America,” he should return and do it for the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are currently leading the NL East with a 59-42 record.
