Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Indian playing XI for its first ODI against England at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Tuesday, July 14.
For Kohli, it is the first time he will play for India since the final match of the ODI series against New Zealand in Indore in January ahead of the T20 World Cup. He scored 124 in a losing cause in that match as India succumbed to a series defeat.
Rohit’s last international appearance came in the recent series against Afghanistan shortly after the IPL. He scored a 69-ball 79 in the third ODI in Chennai.
Bumrah, meanwhile, makes his return to the 50-over format after over two-and-a-half years. His last appearance in ODIs came in the 2023 ODI World Cup final defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad.
England won the toss and opted to bat first.
