The city police took prompt action and booked an autorickshaw driver for allegedly harassing a woman passenger after she posted a video on social media claiming harassment and seeking police action.

The accused allegedly offered her money in exchange for sexual favours while she was traveling alone in Pendurthi. The girl recorded the entire incident on her mobile phone and uploaded it to social media, seeking action against the accused.

The video quickly went viral, prompting the city police to intervene. Known for their prompt response to complaints raised through social media, the Visakhapatnam City Police traced the accused to Pendurthi within 12 hours of the video being posted, registered a case against him, and initiated legal proceedings. The police also informed the complainant about the action taken, after which she thanked the department for its prompt response and swift intervention.

The city police reiterated that any form of harassment or misconduct against women will be dealt with firmly and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in such offences.
