The Telangana Waqf Board on Saturday clarified that the proposed land acquisition for the Himayatsagar Bund Improvement and Eco Project, being taken up under the Musi Riverfront Development Project, will not affect the Dargah Hazrat Quli Khan Sahib.
The clarification came after concerns were raised following the Rangareddy Collectorate’s declaration issued under Form VII on July 13, proposing the acquisition of 24.22 acres of land in Dargah Kalich Khan village of Gandipet mandal.
According to the board, chairman Syed Azmatullah Husseni and the chief executive officer directed officials to conduct a detailed inquiry to determine whether any waqf properties would be impacted by the acquisition.
A spot inspection carried out by the board’s executive staff found that the dargah, along with two mosques and samakhanas located within its premises, is part of a notified Waqf institution measuring 6.24 guntas. The institution was officially notified in the Gazette on February 9, 1989.
The inspection further revealed that the land identified for acquisition falls under different survey numbers located on the opposite side of the dargah. Based on the findings, it stated that the acquisition does not encroach upon or affect the notified Waqf property.
