The BJP on Thursday took swipes at the Congress, asking how a party unable to handle its leaders could run Punjab.
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who hails from Amritsar, commented on the ongoing tussle for leadership of the Punjab Congress between state chief Amrinder Raja Warring and his internal rival Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday, stating, "Congress has always treated Punjab as a lab for experimentation. It has never looked at Punjab through the lens of dignity and respect."
Borrowing from the Congress in-charge of Punjab, Bhupesh Baghel, who has said leadership changes are not child's play, Chugh said: "Congress has reduced Punjab leadership issue to child's play as if it's guddey-duddi ka khel," adding that Congress was in no position to run Punjab, given that its own house is in disarray.
"The people of Punjab will never forget 1984 when Congress leaders burnt Sikhs alive by putting tires around their necks," Chugh said.
