State Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday demanded the resignation of CM Bhagwant Mann over a series of bomb blasts that occurred in Punjab, with the government and the police remaining clueless about them.

Warring also welcomed the FBI action against gangsters operating from the US and targeting Indians. He hailed the identification of a Punjab Police cop who was found to have extorted USD 4 lakh and has been accused of intimidating people.

Reacting to a bomb blast at a police station in Moga, Warring, in an informal interaction with reporters here on Thursday, said Bhagwant Mann had completely failed as the CM and Home Minister of the state. He also referred to some bomb blasts that took place in Jalandhar and Amritsar over a month ago.

Warring flayed the Punjab Police for being unable to prevent the repeated incidents of bomb blast. “If the police stations are not safe and they are being repeatedly targeted with nobody having any fear of the law, imagine the plight of the common man,” he remarked.

Replying to a question on the FBI action against the gangster network operating from the US, he said, it was a welcome move as the gangsters would no longer have a safe haven anywhere. He suggested that the Punjab Police must take a cue from the FBI and take similar action against such networks in the state.

Warring said he had also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, flagging the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

Law & order situation alarming: Randhawa

Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, in a statement released on Thursday, said the law and order situation in the state was alarming. He alleged that the FBI’s action and the Punjab Police’s handling of issues related to gangsters and extortion had damaged the state’s image both nationally and internationally.
