Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, his wife, Anna Congdon, and their children were the targets of an attempted burglary at their home in the Malvern section of Tredyffrin Township, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

After ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter shared the news on X on Sunday, NFL fans quickly reacted online.

Note: The fan was referring to the 2007 home invasion in which former Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was fatally shot while trying to protect his family. Taylor's longtime girlfriend and their young daughter survived the incident.

According to ESPN, police responded to a burglary-in-progress call at around 5 a.m. on Saturday. Investigators believe at least one suspect got inside the home before fleeing before officers arrived.

Barkley and his family were inside the house during the break-in, but no one was hurt.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department and Chester County detectives are investigating the case. Police are searching for at least two suspects and have released images of a large white SUV, believed to be a GMC Denali, that may be connected to the attempted burglary.

Investigators are also looking into whether the incident is linked to a series of break-ins targeting NFL players. In recent years, the homes of Patrick Mahomes (October 2024), Travis Kelce (October 2024) and Joe Burrow (December 2024) have also been burglarized.

Police have also asked nearby residents to check their home security and doorbell camera footage for any suspicious activity around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

The 2026 season will be Saquon Barkley's ninth season in the NFL. It will also mark his third season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
