Jon Jones has gone from sounding content in retirement to leaving the door open for another UFC fight. Whether that actually happens, however, is a question even Dana White isn't ready to answer.

In a recent interview with Adam Glyn, the UFC CEO acknowledged that Jones continues to bring up the possibility of fighting again. White made it clear that the former two-division champion knows exactly where things stand with the promotion:

Jones was last seen in action against Stipe Miocic in November 2024, when he defended his heavyweight throne in a dominant display. He later stepped away from competition instead of facing then-interim heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall. Following his retirement, Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champ status, while the UFC was seemingly left with a bitter taste after Jones' abrupt decision.

The American wanted to make a return at the historic UFC Freedom 250 card. However, White claimed that he "can't risk putting him in big positions" and the organization went ahead with building the card without Jones' involvement.

Jones recently told Ring Magazine that he is still enrolled in the UFC's anti-doping program and continues to be tested regularly. He also admitted retirement has not completely closed the chapter on his fighting career.

For now, Jones says his attention is on coaching Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Steveson as he begins his MMA journey. He explained that being in the gym, standing backstage on fight nights and helping someone else chase success has given him a sense of fulfillment that eases the urge to compete.
