Indian officials are “closely coordinating” with the UAE authorities and the shipping company to provide all possible assistance to the family of an Indian national who died following an attack on a cargo vessel off the coast of Oman, the Indian Consulate in Dubai.
“We express our deepest condolences at the tragic demise of an Indian national due to an attack on the commercial vessel MV GFS Galaxy on 12 July 2026,” the mission said in a post on X.

The Gulf monarchies of Kuwait and Bahrain today confirmed they had intercepted fresh aerial salvos from Iran as Tehran and Washington exchanged fire over control of the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait’s military said it was intercepting attack drones and blamed “nefarious Iranian aggression”, with Bahrain’s army later saying it “succeeded in intercepting and destroying a number of the treacherous Iranian aerial attacks”.
In the early hours of the morning, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said it had sounded warning sirens and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.
Iranian state media reported today that Iran carried out separate attacks on U.S. targets in Kuwait and on the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain after U.S. forces struck the Islamic republic.

U.S. airstrikes targeting Iran have killed more than 30 people in “recent days,” an Iranian government spokesperson said today.
The comment from Fatemeh Mohajerani came as a Health Ministry spokesperson said more than 260 people had been wounded in overnight strikes in Iran.
It wasn’t immediately clear what time period Mohajerani was referring to.
Iran, during the war with the United States and Israel, has only sporadically offered full casualty statistics.

Bahrain’s military said it had intercepted aerial attacks from Iran today after warning sirens sounded in the early hours in the tiny Gulf nation.
“The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announces that Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its criminal attacks that target civilians,” it said in a statement adding the military “succeeded in intercepting and destroying a number of the treacherous Iranian aerial attacks this morning”.

The body of an Indian sailor who went missing after his ship was attacked off the coast of Oman has been recovered, a seafarers’ union official said today.
Heramb Karmarkar, a 30-year-old marine engineer from the western Indian city of Pune, had been missing since Sunday’s attack on the Cypriot-flagged GFS Galaxy.
“I got a call Tuesday evening from the company the ship belonged to informing me that Heramb Karmarkar’s body has been found by the Omani coast guard,” Manoj Yadav, of the Forward Seamen’s Union of India, told AFP.
“This was almost 60 hours after we first received news that he was missing.”
The other 23 crew members -- including 10 Indian nationals -- were rescued on 12 July.

The U.S. military today reimposed a blockade on Iranian ports over Tehran’s attacks on ships trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, sparking new strikes on nations hosting American forces as an interim deal to end the war further unravelled.
Days of retaliatory strikes across West Asia by Iran — and both nations’ attempts to assert control of the waterway through which a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas trade passes during peacetime — threaten to push the region back to all-out war.
The U.S. first imposed the blockade in mid-April and then lifted it in mid-June, a day after signing the interim deal that set a 60-day period for negotiations over issues like Iran’s nuclear program, but talks have stalled as fighting over the strait has intensified.
Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard threatened today to halt all energy exports from West Asia over the blockade.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to the United States on Saturday (July 18, 2026), a senior Israeli official told Reuters.
Mr. Netanyahu wants to meet U.S. President Donald Trump, but it is not clear if he will, the official added.

The Israeli military said it had sentenced an active-duty soldier to five years in prison for sending videos of missile interceptions to an Iranian agent.
The soldier sent two such videos during the 12-day war with Iran in June last year and “received payment for them,” the military said. It added that he had also shared several videos filmed in civilian locations with the Iranian agent.

At least seven personnel were killed in U.S. strikes on an Iranian military base in Bampur overnight, Iran’s Army said on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The Army said the strikes were intended to cause maximum casualties, with 13 missiles hitting a guesthouse, guard posts and accommodation facilities at the base near the southeastern city of Iranshahr.
It added that a number of personnel were also wounded and promised a “decisive response” to the attack.

The latest round of overnight U.S. airstrikes on Iran wounded more than 260 people, a Health Ministry official said Wednesday (July 15, 2026).
The comment by Hossein Kermanpour, a spokesperson for the Health Ministry, did not include fatality statistics.

The United States expanded its sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector, taking further aim at the network of petroleum shipping magnate Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the Treasury Department said.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the department had also frozen $130 million held in digital wallets linked to Iran’s central bank, hitting a sector that has seen increased activity since the start of the war.
The move came after U.S. forces carried out a fourth straight day of strikes against Iran and reimposed a naval blockade, with Iran in turn hitting ships in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the International Maritime Organization.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Wednesday it had targeted what it described as command-and-control, logistics, fuel and military equipment facilities belonging to the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
This was in response to what it said were U.S. actions in the Indian Ocean and efforts to control the Strait of Hormuz and restrict shipping routes.
The Guards warned that if Washington sought to block the region’s oil and gas exports by controlling maritime routes, other export routes serving U.S. and allied interests could also be closed, saying regional energy exports would be “for everyone or for no one”.

Iranian state television reported Wednesday that Iran’s army and the Revolutionary Guards carried out separate attacks on U.S. targets in Jordan and Kuwait after U.S. forces struck the Islamic republic.
The army said it targeted the Al-Azraq base in Jordan with drones, state TV IRIB reported. Separately, the Guards said they fired cruise missiles at a U.S. military logistics centre at Mina Abdullah in Kuwait, stressing that the Hormuz strait would remain closed “until the United States ends its acts of aggression”.

U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) he would expand US strikes on Iran next week to target power plants and bridges if Tehran does not make a deal.

Oil rose on Wednesday (July 15, 2026) as President Donald Trump reimposed a naval blockade on all Iranian ports and Iran launched retaliatory strikes on U.S. infrastructure in the region. For the second straight session, Brent closed at its highest since June 12 and West Texas Intermediate at its highest since June 15 and rose further on early Wednesday (July 15, 2026) trade.
Brent rose $1.46, or 1.72%, to $86.19 a barrel by 0029 GMT while WTI was up $1.11, or 1.4%, to $80.40 a barrel.

U.S. forces carried out strikes against Iran for a fourth day in a row and reimposed a naval blockade to prevent ships from sailing to or from the country’s ports.
While U.S. President Donald Trump backtracked on his threat to heavily tax ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, he warned he would expand U.S. strikes on Iran next week to target power plants and bridges if Tehran does not agree to a deal.
“Next week it gets really bad for them because next week comes the power plants. Next week comes the bridges,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News. “We’re going to knock out all their power plants. We’re going to knock out all their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate.”
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest strikes were aimed at “degrading Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping” in the strait, the key shipping channel for Gulf oil and gas where Tehran has repeatedly carried out attacks on civilian vessels.
