Iran warned on Saturday (July 11) that it would no longer be bound by a deal with the US aimed at ending the West Asian war if Washington’s violations of the agreement continued, state TV reported.
Referring to the deal struck with the help of Pakistani mediation, Tehran’s UN ambassador said “that if the United States continues to violate its obligations under the Islamabad Understanding, Iran will no longer consider itself bound by its commitments under that understanding”, according to a statement carried by state broadcaster IRIB.

A U.S. military delegation has met with Lebanon’s army in Beirut to discuss the implementation of Israel’s withdrawal from one of the “pilot zones” in occupied territory, a Lebanese military official told AFP on Saturday (July 11).
Under a framework agreement reached on June 26, Israel will gradually withdraw from areas of southern Lebanon where it has sent troops as part of its military campaign against Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Shia movement that has long battled Israel.
As part of the agreement, the long-disempowered Lebanese military will take full control of two small areas dubbed pilot zones.
“The American military delegation arrived and began meetings with the Lebanese army command to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the first pilot zone from which the Israelis will withdraw, allowing the Lebanese army to deploy,” the official said, requesting anonymity.

The global oil market will break out of its roughly $80-$100 range by the first quarter of 2027 at the latest, boosting inflation and reducing energy demand, if the West Asian conflict continues, Claudio Descalzi, the CEO of Italian state-controlled group Eni said.

Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said in a written message released on Saturday (July 11) that vengeance for the killing of his father and predecessor in U.S.-Israeli strikes was “inevitable”, in his first statement since his father’s funeral.
“This vengeance is the will of our nation and must inevitably be carried out,” he said in a letter signed on Friday. “This matter depends neither on my personal existence nor on that of other officials. Whether we are present or not, it will come to pass.”

Mediators were trying to salvage diplomacy aimed at ending the West Asian war after U.S. President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire over, with a Qatari delegation in Iran and Tehran’s top diplomat travelling to Oman.
While there have been no direct talks between Tehran and Washington since last month, Iranian media reported that a delegation from mediator Qatar travelled to Iran on Friday (July 10).
The visit follows Mr. Trump saying talks would continue, despite previously labelling them “a waste of time”.

Mojtaba Khamenei issued the message on the occasion of funeral ceremonies for his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, held months after he was killed in the U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on February 28.

Two members of Iran’s security forces were killed in an attack in the northeast city of Mashhad, where the funeral of late supreme leader Ali Khamenei was held, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported today.
The two people killed were “members of the Basij forces”, a paramilitary force affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological arm of the Iranian military, Tasnim said.
Tasnim did not specify the date of the incident or the identity of the attackers, but said that “the perpetrator or perpetrators of this act will be punished”.
According to the agency, the two men were killed while “patrolling in the city of Mashhad, about 15 km from the shrine” of Imam Reza, the holiest site for Shia Muslims in Iran, where Ali Khamenei was buried early on Friday (July 10, 2026).
“A pedestrian was also wounded by the attackers and taken to hospital,” the Iranian agency added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate talks with the leaders of Iran and Qatar in an effort to revive the stalled U.S.-Iran negotiations.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed that Tehran remains prepared for “full-scale defence” should the U.S. betray the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries last month.

Iran has adamantly refused to give up control of the strait, the strategic waterway through which a fifth of the world’s oil supply typically flows. The U.S. officials said conversations between the two countries had been productive in recent days. They made the comments to a small group of reporters in a conference call.
“What we’re demanding is that the Iranians issue a public statement that acknowledges all channels of the Strait of Hormuz are open and they’re not shooting at ships anymore. They’re either going to give us that statement or we’re not having a good outcome for them,” one official said.
Iran has told Washington that recent attacks on shipping in the strait were from “an errant part of their system,” one senior official said.
