France went down by four goals in the first half in its FIFA World Cup 2026 third-place match against England at the Miami Stadium on Saturday.

    Declan Rice and Ezri Konsa bagged one each while Bukayo Saka found the back of the net twice for the Three Lions as France conceded four goals in the first half for the first time in its World Cup history.

    France found itself in the tie after losing 0-2 to Spain in the semifinal while England lost against defending champion Argentina.

    France’s heaviest defeat in a FIFA World Cup match came during the 1958 edition, when it was beaten 5-2 by Brazil in the semifinal.

    Pele scored a hat-trick while Vava and Didi also got on the scoresheet for the eventual champion, while Roger Piantoni and Just Fontaine scored for France.
