Switzerland and Colombia remained locked at 0-0 after 105 minutes of their FIFA World Cup round-of-16 match in Vancouver on Tuesday.

With just 15 minutes remaining, the prospect of a penalty shootout loomed as the two sides battled for a place in the quarterfinals against Argentina.

Gregor Kobel made three saves to keep Colombia at bay and Switzerland level. The goalkeeper had spent much of his international career in the shadow of long-time first-choice custodian Yann Sommer.

However, Kobel could now be called into action in a World Cup shootout for the first time. Over his career, he has faced 57 penalties and saved 10 of them.
