    Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey features one of the biggest ensemble casts of 2026, with British-Indian actor Himesh Patel becoming one of the most talked-about additions. After winning hearts with his performance in Yesterday and appearing in projects like Tenet and Station Eleven, Patel is collaborating with Nolan once again for the epic mythological drama.

    In The Odyssey, Patel is potraying Eurylochus, the trusted second-in-command of Greek hero Odysseus and a key figure in Homer’s legendary epic.

    Who is Himesh Patel

    Himesh Patel was born on October 13, 1990, in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire, England. His parents are Gujarati Hindus whose families shifted to the UK from East Africa. His mother was born in Zambia, while his father was born in Kenya.


    Patel grew up in a Gujarati-speaking household, with his family running a local newsagent. His interest in acting developed at an early age after he impressed his teachers during a school play. He later joined a local theatre group and trained with The Young Actors' Company in Cambridge.

    Apart from acting, Patel also developed a passion for music. He learned to play the piano and taught himself guitar during his teenage years.

    Breakthrough Role in Yesterday

    Patel’s career reached a major turning point in 2019 with director Danny Boyle’s musical comedy Yesterday. He played Jack Malik, a struggling musician who discovers a world where nobody remembers The Beatles except him.

    Patel performed the songs himself in the film, and his heartfelt and relatable portrayal received widespread appreciation from audiences and critics.

    First Collaboration With Christopher Nolan in Tenet

    In 2020, Patel appeared in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi thriller Tenet, playing the character Mahir. The supporting role marked his first association with Nolan and placed him in one of the biggest films of the year.

    With The Odyssey, Patel will reunite with Nolan for their second project together, taking on a significant role in the highly anticipated mythological epic.
