Spain is set to take on Belgium in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal stage, with the match set to be held in the Los Angeles Stadium on Friday.
Spain is set to compete in its first quarterfinal since 2010, when the side went on to win the tournament. Since then, it has been a group stage elimination in 2014, and Round of 16 eliminations in 2018 and 2022. La Roja have qualified for this stage after a late 1-0 win over Portugal, courtesy of a Mikel Merino winner.

Belgium, on the other hand, come into the fixture hoping to carry on their positive momentum from its win against the USA in the previous round. A brace from Charles de Ketelaere, and strikes from Hans Vanaken and Romelu Lukaku were enough to see the Red Devils through to this stage.
The Spain vs Belgium FIFA World Cup 2026 match will be officiated by English referee Michael Oliver.
Oliver made his debut in the fifth division of England, the National League, in September 2005. After a number of years refereeing various matches across the English second to fifth divisions, he made his Premier League debut in August 2010. He became a regular in the league in his first season itself, taking charge of sixteen top flight fixtures. This has been Oliver’s second FIFA World Cup, having taken charge of three games at the 2022 edition.
This fixture will be the 41-year-old’s fourth assignment of this edition of the tournament, having taken charge of two group stage games and one Round of 16 fixture so far.
In his career till date, Oliver has taken charge of 813 matches across all competitions, issuing 2663 yellow cards (average 3.27 per match) and 118 red cards (average 0.14 per match).
The Englishman has taken charge of two FA Cup finals in his career, and has also officiated the UEFA Super Cup 2022/23.
