The toss for the fifth T20I between England and India was delayed due to a bizarre reason. The game is set to be played in Southampton on Saturday, July 11.

It was a rare reason in international cricket, not seen often, as the toss was delayed due to the Indian team not reaching the ground on time, being stuck in traffic. With the toss scheduled to take place at 6:30 PM IST, the Men in Blue arrived at the ground only at 6:36 PM IST.

Therefore, the toss was officially delayed, which also delays the start of play. The toss will now take place at 7:15 PM IST, and the game will begin at 7:30 PM IST, causing a 30-minute delay from the original start time of the match. The players have now begun warming up and will have a quick, short session.

Shreyas Iyer and Co. are 0-3 down and have already conceded the series. The opening game was abandoned due to rain, while England won the next three games by four wickets, 125 runs, and nine wickets respectively.

The Men in Blue will be desperate to bounce back and claim a consolation win to end the series on a high note. Post the T20Is, the action will shift to the one-dayers. England and India will play a three-match ODI series beginning Tuesday, July 14.

The series defeat against England came as a major setback for the 2026 T20 World Cup champions. For the first time since 2019, India suffered back-to-back T20I series defeats.

They were whitewashed 0-2 in the two-match series against Ireland in Belfast. Against England, they have failed to win a single game in the series so far. The last time India lost back-to-back series defeats in this format was in 2019 under Virat Kohli.

They first lost a three-match series 1-2 against New Zealand. The subsequent series ended in a 0-2 whitewash against Australia at home. Shreyas Iyer and his troops play Zimbabwe in a three-match series next and will be keen to bounce back from the shocking performances in Ireland and England.
