Erling Haaland was substituted out ahead of the second half of extra time in Norway’s FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal against England in Miami on Saturday.

The Manchester City striker was replaced by Crystal Palace forward Jorgen Strand Larsen despite Norway trailing the Three Lions 1-2 after a Jude Bellingham brace.

It had been a quiet night in front of goal for the former Borussia Dortmund attacker who sits third in the Golden Boot rankings with seven goals in the tournament so far.

He scored twice in the round of 16 match against Brazil to take his side to its first-ever World Cup quarterfinal.

Although there was no clear indication of injury, Haaland had been moving gingerly in the extra 30 minutes added.
