England won a penalty in the first-half of extra-time against Norway in their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal but the decision was overturned by the referee.
Djed Spence was brought down in the box by Oscar Bobb and the referee, Clement Turpin, awarded a spot kick to England, giving it a chance to take a 3-1 lead.
However, Turpin was called to the on-field monitor by the Video Assistant Referee. Upon check, he finally adjudged that the contact was not initiated by the defender and hence changed his decision.
Though England stayed in the lead, the penalty verdict being changed allowed Norway to stay within reach of getting the leveller.
