Norway scored a goal in the second half against England to take a 2-1 lead in their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal in Miami on Saturday but the strike was disallowed.
The decision was changed because of a foul in the build-up to the goal by Erling Haaland.
The passage of play occurred in the 55th minute after Heggem got behind a delivery from a corner and hit a left-foot shot into the roof of the goal. The ball came his way after it was deflected at the near-post by Patrick Berg.
However, the referee, Clement Turpin of France, was called to the on-field monitor by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The replays showed an infraction from Haaland, who had pushed England midfielder Elliot Anderson to the ground. The goal was hence disallowed and Norway was asked to take the set-piece again.
