The FIFA World Cup 2026 has reached its business end with just four teams left in the hunt to be named World Champion on July 19 in New Jersey.

France will go head-to-head with Spain in the first semifinal in Dallas before England takes on defending champion Argentina in Atlanta the next day.

With the competition undergoing a revamp, certain tweaks were also made to the rules on bookings to ensure that fewer players are suspended for key knockout fixtures.

All carried over yellow cards from the quarterfinal will be wiped out ahead of the final four stage. Therefore players who had a yellow shown earlier in the tournament will not miss the final if they are a shown a second one in the semifinal.

The yellow cards were also wiped out once after the group phase. Hence a player has the chance to be shown three yellows through the competition and still not have to serve a ban.

But, players who are shown two yellows in the semifinal or a direct red will miss the summit clash if their team qualifies.
