France and England will take the field for the final time at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Saturday when they play the third-place playoff at the Miami Stadium.

A game between the losing semifinalists has been played at the World Cup since 1934, with the fixture giving the teams a chance to finish their campaigns on a high.

Despite the game not carrying the same appeal as the final, a victory does bring some incentives.

To begin with, the team finishing third takes home a prize purse of $29 million while the losing team, which ends in fourth place, gets $27 million. Besides this, a win also helps the teams collect a few bonus FIFA ranking points.

Though there is no trophy presented to the winner, it can still return home with bronze medals. At the last edition in Qatar, FIFA had held a presentation ceremony for Croatia, which had beaten Morocco 2-1, and handed over bronze medals to its players.
