YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State women’s wing president and MLC Varudu Kalyani on Saturday demanded the resignation of Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, holding her responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the State after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Guntur.

This comes after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Guntur. Alleging that the NDA government had failed to ensure the safety of women, she accused a TDP leader of assaulting and stripping the woman in public view over a dispute. She also alleged that the police did not act immediately but had initiated action only after the incident grabbed attention.

Ms. Kalyani also stated that Ms. Anitha had failed to maintain law and order and was limiting herself to issuing statements and conducting video-call interactions with victims.

She also said that the State was witnessing an increase in crimes against women, while narcotics and liquor were freely available.
