A woman and her teenage son lost their lives, while her two daughters were injured after the roof of a room in their house in Chatha Mohalla in Talwandi Sabo collapsed while they were asleep on Monday night.
The incident took place around 11 pm at the residence of Dharm Singh alias Kala, an outsourced employee of the Municipal Council.
The deceased have been identified as approximately 38-year-old Veerpal Kaur and her 14-year-old son Arshdeep Singh.
Her daughters Sanampreet Kaur and Khushpreet Kaur were injured and admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda. Darshan Singh and Gurmel Singh, neighbours of the victims, said that Kala was sleeping outside, while the other members of the family were asleep in a room when the roof collapsed, claiming two lives.
They further sought financial assistance for the family, stating, "The roof had become weak, and the family had no money to repair it, which caused this tragic incident."
