The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday has demanded ₹50 lakh as compensation for the family of Majji Appala Raju (48), who was working at the construction site of the upcoming Google data centre project at Tarluvada village in Anandapuram mandal.

The party alleged that Appala Raju collapsed while working and later died. They also alleged that the police prevented the CPI(M) and CITU leaders from meeting the affected families.

Addressing a press conference here, CPI(M) Central Committee member K. Lokanadham and district secretary M. Jaggu Naidu alleged that police detained party leaders and imposed restrictions on their visit to Tarluvada after Appala Raju’s death. They urged the State government to compensate the bereaved family, provide educational support to the deceased worker’s children, and withdraw what they described as police repression against those supporting the affected families.

The CPI(M) also sought free educational support for his children, and rehabilitation, warns of intensified protests if they remain unresolved.
