The Moodbidri police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly creating a ruckus at the Moodbidri bus stand by brandishing a sickle on Saturday.

The police identified the accused as Rajesh, 23, a resident of Bantwal.

The police said Rajesh consumed alcohol with his friends and went to his relative’s house in Moodbidri. He picked up a sickle from the house and came to the bus stand. Rajesh then went to a mobile shop at the bus stand and threatened the shop owner to give him a mobile phone.

Images of Rajesh threatening the shop owner and striking pillars in front of the shop with the sickle were captured on the shop’s CCTV camera. The footage also captured a few onlookers slowly surrounding Rajesh and caught him after snatching the sickle.

Based on the shop owner’s complaint, the Moodbidri police arrested Rajesh on charges of criminal trespass under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under provisions of the Indian Arms Act.
