Telugu Desam Party(TDP) Polit Bureau member Nakka Ananda Babu accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of hatching a conspiracy around the capital Amaravati to stall its development once again.

While 99.50% of the farmers voluntarily gave their lands for the construction of the capital city, the remaining 0.50% were unhappy about certain things.

He said, It was this small section of disgruntled Amaravati farmers whom the YSRCP was provoking to somehow bring the development of the capital to a halt, especially by raking up road connectivity issues, he alleged.

Addressing the media at the TDP central office, near Mangalagiri, on Sunday (July 12, 2026), Mr. Ananda Babu said YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was using those farmers as pawns in his political game, and that some of them extended cooperation under the Land Pooling Scheme after realising that the former Chief Minister was scheming behind their backs.

Between 2014 and 2019, the YSRCP had levelled false allegations and filed several complaints to stifle Amaravati’s development in its nascent stage, but after coming to power it destroyed Amaravati by enacting the three-capital drama, he said.

The YSRCP kept up its campaign against Amaravati even after the coalition government secured legal sanctity for it by having the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, amended by Parliament, Mr. Ananda Babu added.
